Science
While teaching science, my goal is to build experiences with the content, celebrate students’ ability to make connections and recognize patterns, and form explanations about our patterns, and then use the knowledge in an application setting.

Application
Throughout this unit, students learned physical and observable properties of matter. Students were given an object that they needed to study and analyze. Then students presented their findings to the class. These students were preparing their script about their mystery object.
Water Unit- Integrated Curriculum
Students completed a large water unit for science. I was able to integrate their water learning into the math curriculum and writing.
Students recorded their individual water usage over 24 hours by making a list of activities that used water. As a class we used approximate values to find the water usage of the entire class. Then students transfered their data from a table into a graph.
Students completed a persuasive writing piece about the importance of conserving water.
Students worked in partners to complete posters to make the school aware of current water usage, how to conserve water, and why saving water is important.
